GO By Bike

Cycling enthusiasts strapped on their helmets and were ready to ride the GO train from Toronto to Ajax for "Go-by-Bike". Ajax Mayor Steve Parish met with GO Transit officials at Union Station on May 28th to officially launch the town’s new initiative to promote Ajax trails. Parish is a passionate cyclist and has been working to promote the trails located at the south end of Ajax at Rotary Park. He calls the trails a great tourism opportunity and a healthier alternative to driving.
"Go-by-Bike," runs every Sunday from June 1st until August 17th and encourages outdoor enthusiasts to take the GO Train with their bikes and then cycle the Waterfront and Trans Canada trails westward. The route starts at the Trans Canada Trail south along Duffins Creek to the Ajax Waterfront, west to Pickering's Frenchman's Bay and Petticoat Creek, a rest at Scarborough's Rouge Park and finishes at the Rouge Hill GO Station. Ontario Power Generation has contributed to the initiative as a sponsor, and many of its staff are also passionate cyclists themselves.
