2008 November > Sisters Cut Hair For Cancer

Step sisters Elisabeth Callaghan, 14 and Rebecca Whiteside, 20, gathered all their courage to cut away their lengthy locks at The Shoppe in Pickering Village and donate it to Angel Hair for Kids. After more than a decade of hair-growing Elisabeth Callaghan contributed 12 inches of her hair and Rebecca Whiteside was able to contribute 15 inches. Angel Hair for Kids is the only Canadian charity that provides services nationally for children aged nineteen and under. According to the Angel Hair for Kids website, "this year, 10,000 Canadian children will lose their hair to Alopecia, Burns or Cancer chemotherapy and radiation treatments." Hair donation forms can be found at www.achildsvoicefoundation.com.
