Derrell tries out a wheelchair in the Ability Challenge
Peer Awareness Day at Romeo Dallaire P.S.
Romeo Dallaire P.S. hosted a Peer Awareness day in early January. Over the course of the day students rotated through 8 learning stations with each station designed to help students gain understanding and empathy for people with a variety of physical and mental disabilities. The exercises also incorporated discussions on how students can make a difference and take action in supporting peers with disabilities in their school or community. An over-riding theme for the day was “courage” and students and teachers explored how people with different disabilities are courageous.
