Ride for Karen 2011
On September 11th, cyclists from across Ontario pedaled their way to raising significant funds in support of Camp Trillium, Camp Oochigeas, and Camp Quality – namely, to send children with cancer to camp. The Ride for Karen is a labour of love for Kris and Kirk Tobias as they founded the first ride shortly after their mother, Karen Tobias, battled and subsequently succumbed to breast cancer. This year’s ride featured four events - a 160km course for advanced riders, a 100km course for intermediate riders, a 25km course for recreational cyclists, and a Kids Fun Ride for children 2-12 years old.
Adding to Karen’s legacy is important to the Tobias family, as the funds are, “used to help build and furnish new cancer care facilities, provide much needed resources for cancer support centres and send kids with cancer to camp.” Please visit www.rideforkaren.com for more details and information about an amazing organization, steadfast in their pursuit of providing hope and happiness to people affected by cancer.
